Our mind is the control tower of our life. Whatever happens in our life starts in the mind. Our relationship with God is based on what we think
*THE THREEFOLD NATURE OF MAN*
In learning about the mind it is important to know the threefold nature of man.
Man is a spirit, has a soul and lives in a body. The soul part of man is where we find the mind
(1 Thessalonians 5:23)
1)The spirit is born again (John 3:3)
2)Soul/mind needs to be renewed (Romans 12:2)
3)The body has to be disciplined(1 Corinthians 9:27)
*THOUGHT SYSTEM*
(2 Corinthians 10:4-5)
1)Thought- Every good or bad thing that comes to your mind starts as a thought. At this stage you can choose to accept or reject what you hear
2)Imagination- When a thought comes to your mind it is your choice either to mediate upon it or throw it away. Be careful what you choose to meditate upon
There is a saying which says you can not stop birds from flying over you but you can stop them from making nests on your head.
Stop evil thoughts from making their home in you and meditate on good things only
3)Stronghold- This is an established thought system. Everything that you meditate upon long enough becomes a stronghold
*CARNAL MIND*
A mind that is controlled by the detects of the flesh(Romans 8:5-8)
*SPIRITUAL MIND*
A mind that is renewed by the word(Romans 8:5-9)
*QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF EVERY TIME THOUGHTS COME INTO YOUR MIND*
1)Where will these thoughts lead me?
2)Will these thoughts get me where I want to go?
3)Are these thoughts scripturally acceptable?
4)Will these thoughts build me up or tear me down?
5)Could I share these thoughts with someone else?
6)Where did these thoughts originate?
7)Do I feel guilty thinking these thoughts?
8)Do these thoughts fit who I am as a follower of Jesus?
