DIFFERENCES BETWEEN A PASTOR AND EVANGELIST

It must be noted that a pastor must be male! Since he is to be the husband of one wife and is to feed the flock of God. Then, it follows logically that he must be male since a woman cannot meet these requirements and be pleasing to God. Read 1Timothy 2:8-15; 3:2. To love Christ is to keep His commandments.
Rescue yourself from religious error. The qualifications to be an evangelist are different from those of a pastor according to the Bible. The scope of their work also differs. Is the church you attend governed by a one man pastor? I beseech you by the mercies of God to reconsider your stand and follow the doctrine of Christ today ( 2John vs 9; Romans 16:17-18).

In many churches today, the affairs of the church are run by a man or woman at the helm of affairs popularly called the Pastor of the church. Upon subjection to scriptural scrutiny, we find that the doctrine of Christ concerning this is different from what is popular today. Here are some differences between a pastor and an evangelist according to the Bible.

EVANGELISTS
PASTORS
An evangelist (aka preacher, minister, man of God) can be a young person e.g Timothy! (1Timothy 4:12; 2Timothy 4:5). An evangelist does not have to be a married man
A pastor must be an older person who is not a youth. The Greek word used for a youth is maotas whereas poimen is the word used to refer to a pastor! A pastor(aka bishop, shepherd, overseer, elder) must be the husband of one wife (1Timothy 3:2)
There can be one or more evangelists in a local church. Examples are Timothy in Ephesus and Titus in Crete.
The minimum number of pastors in a local church is two ! Plurality is emphasized. Read Philippians 1:1; Ephesians 4:11; Acts 15:2,4,6,22; Hebrews 13:17; 1Timothy 5:17; 1Thessalonians 5:12-13.
An evangelist can work across different congregations in a city.
A pastor can only serve in that capacity within the local church where he has been ordained. The elders at Jerusalem did not have oversight duties over those at Ephesus (Acts 20:17-30).
By definition, the word evangelist comes from the Greek word euangelistes which means someone who brings glad tidings. Thus, his primary assignment is to proclaim the good news about Christ to the world and to train men who would become pastors.
A pastor, by definition, is from the Greek word poimen which means shepherd. Someone who feeds the flock. The primary concern of a pastor is to provide spiritual food to those already in the fold of Christ.
