Oldham chairman Abdallah Lesagam is currently in Dubai and is expected back in the country on Monday, when he will make a decision on the new manager.
Reports state that Paul Scholes , the former Manchester United midfielder is the front-runner to take over from interim manager Pete Wild, and attended Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Macclesfield.
Paul Scholes has held talks with Oldham about becoming their new manager, 15 months after missing out on the job.
He is a boyhood Oldham fan and was also interviewed by the club for the manager's job in October 2017 - when he missed out to Richie Wellens.
Scholes is one of four candidates who the club have spoken to about the job.
