In this article, titled RIGHTS OF CHILDREN, we will learn a lot.
Ask me a lot like what?
👉Children's right to education and career
Children's right to marriage
Children's right to their social life etc
Have been mentioning the word children! children!! children!!!
Don't be surprised, it's not what you think, we are all children (boys and girls).
Rights: Rights are legal, social, or ethical principles of freedom or entitlement, i.e. rights are
the fundamental normative rules about what is allowed of people according to some legal system, or ethical theory.
children's right: children's rights include their right to associate with both parents, human
identity as well as the basic needs for physical protection, food, universal state-paid education, health care, and most importantly, right to chose their career.
I will like to lay emphasis on career/education*and *marital issues because these are the two most important areas in life where we have failed.
Children’s rights include the right to health, education, family life, play and recreation, an adequate standard of living and to be protected from abuse and harm. Children’s rights covers their developmental and age appropriate needs that change over time as a child grows up.
CHILDREN'S RIGHT TO EDUCATION.
Education is an essential right, which permits each person to receive instruction and to blossom socially. The right to an education is vital for the economic, social and cultural development of all societies.
There are principles that underpin all children’s rights:
Non-discrimination as one of d principles that underpin children's right means all children
have the same right to develop their potential in all situations and at all times.
For example, every child should have equal access to education regardless of the child’s gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, parentage, sexual orientation or other status.
The best interests of the child must be "a primary consideration" in all actions and decisions concerning a child, and must be used to resolve conflicts between different rights.
For example, when making national budgetary decisions affecting children, Government must consider how cuts will impact on the best interests of the child.
A child with a disability should have effective access to education and health care to achieve their full potential.
The views of the child means that the voice of the child must be heard and respected in all matters concerning his or her rights. For example, those in power should consult with children before making decisions that will affect them.
So sorry to say, it is a slap on most parents faces who have taken it as a duty to choose career for their kids, not knowing it is a burden. I hope and pray that one day, their eyes will open to know and see the truth. But I ask such parents this question, will u write exam for your child? And such parents will want their children to be a first class candidate. It is well! First Class indeed!
CHILDREN'S RIGHT TO MARRIAGE
Marriage is the union or joining together of two people, (male and female) to become one. In case u don't know, we have the right to choose who to marry, when to marry, and how to go about the marriage.
It baffles me when I see parents choosing partners for their children. Some do this all in the name of familiarity, wealth, covenant/promise.
The word it self explains it all, life partner. If u don't understand, it means the person you will spend the rest of your life with. The funniest part of it is that they won't go there with us. If there should be misunderstanding that the need arises for you to spend some time with them, they will tell u NO, my dear, it is for better for worse.
We are to choose our life partner ourselves and not our parents to choose for us because any challenges and circumstances we will encounter in the marriage will be borne by us and not our parents and more so, since marriage is a journey of no return there should be adequate preparation before the journey is embarked on.... Marriage is for better for worse and so it should be enjoyed and not endured.
The Scripture should be our basis and our guideline. We have to seek the face of the Lord for the right partner and not the face of our parents. Our parents can only attest to the authenticity of our decision.
The Bible has said it all "Therefore shall a man leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife, and become one".
The idea of a parent choosing a life partner was a thing of past, and that's why marriages then crumbles, because the true love is absent.
Love is the principal thing in every relationship. The person our parent want us to marry might not be someone we love so in order for love and peace to reign,we should choose for ourselves.
It is believed that when we get to a particular age I.e Adulthood (20-30), we are at d level of maturity,we are permitted to do certain things without the permission of our parents particularly when it comes to choosing life partner. Parents are not to choose for their children because the child knows between good and evil and knows what suits him/her without being forced.
I refuse to be silent!
I stand for my right!
