The Three Comings Of Christ
Most professing Christians today recognize only "Two Comings" of our Lord Jesus Christ. They all look back to the "First Coming" as a babe in the manger. They're all looking forward to His "Second Coming" which they believe is at the end of the World - the end of time itself. But Scripture plainly teaches
"Three Comings:
The First Coming - To Redeem His Bride - And dress her in His Word.
The Second Coming - FOR His Bride - As A Thief In The Night.
The Third Coming - WITH His Bride - to execute Judgment.
The Jews missed His first coming by looking for His third coming - a King coming in Glory to sit on the throne of David. They weren't looking for a "babe" in a manger, a Shepherd, a sinless Lamb Sacrifice to redeem them from their sins (Isaiah 53). They were looking for a King to deliver them from Roman domination. Now the Gentiles are making the same mistake - they're looking for His third coming to sit up His kingdom on earth. They're overlooking the Coming FOR the Elect Bride and the Marriage Supper of the Lamb in another dimension of Glory (Matthew 25:10-13; Revelation 19:7-9), while the earth experiences the prophesied "Great Tribulation". They're looking for His Coming WITH His Bride (the Saints) to execute judgment (Jude 14-15).
It's "God hidden and revealed in simplicity". Jesus rebuked the Jews saying, "O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? " Matthew 16:3. In another place He said: "Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?" Mark 12:24.
Again, regarding The Second Coming of our Lord Jesus we would do well to heed Jesus warning: "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." John 5:39. Only by searching the Scriptures with a Spiritual heart will we come to a greater understanding of the Second Coming and be ready for it.
