God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannotchange, the courage to change the things I can change and the wisdom to know the difference. I have come to realized in life, God as not give you control over everything and everybody, so there are things you can do nothing about, anyone who try to control the things that God as not given him or her to control as sign up for frustration. There are things I cannot change and there are things I can change, what I need is courage to change them. See God will never do for you, what you can do for yourself. So I need courage to do things I can do and to change the things I can change. The wisdom to know the difference between the two, when I come across something that I can change, let me know, and when I come across something that I cannot change let me know, so I don't waste my energy and my resources in Jesus name. Amen.
It is not actually in the scriptures that we should forgive and forget, the Bible didn't literally write forget and I believe it is because when the Bible clearly says forgive, the forgiveness package ought to contain forgetting that they once offended us too, just like God didn't just forgive us, he forgets about our sin eternally. Hebrews 8:12 KJVS For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
As believers, We must forever forget those who offends us. It is quite impossible to live without someone offending us, even if no one do you wrong or you didn't do wrong, some might easily misunderstand you, misquote you etc, when we realize someone is bitter against us or we are with some one, we must choose to forgive and let it go.
Forgiving others is a great way of of showing our love for others, it is a great form of humility, you are expressing to others that it is not about your ego, it is not about you but you want others to feel good too. Some might say, there are some sins that are unforgivable, for example, sin against a body, a defilement etc but no matter how hard this can be, we must never lose sight of who we are and where we live from, we are believers! God's own son!! We live from the standpoint of what God has done in us and for us, we are not loving others because we are choleric, extrovert etc, the reality of the Spirit determines who we are and what we do, and gladly, we do confess that "we can do what he can do" a statement that is true, but should not be applicable when we want to heal alone but also when we want to forgive others!!
Ignorance is not a good thing, but glorying in some one else ignorance is worse off. So many times, we see a lot of our friends walking in ignorance, and a lot, if not all of us find it hard to help them out.. Having a good Bible study time with our relatives and close ones is now a very scarce thing, preaching to close friends is now very scarce, we laugh with them but lack boldness when it's time to show ourselves the right way to go.
Jesus asked us to go to the whole world and every creature, he didn't ask us to leave relatives and close ones, we ought to invest our time in prayer and in word for them, just as we do to others. And even as we do all this, we must be able to correct ourselves, we do fall into mistakes sometimes and we should be able to correct each other with love and respect.
In one of the letters to the church in the book of revelation, Jesus said: Revelation 3:19 NLT I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference.
Everyone he loves, he corrects, correction is not a show of hatred, it is a show of love, especially when directed towards positive change. So, we must correct ourselves, we mustn't let the opportunity to correct someone's ignorance pass us by on the ground of familiarity.
We must be able to correct ourselves, it is a way of showing love to ourselves just like we've talked about till now. [2 Timothy 4:2 NLT ]. Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.
